Welcome to my website. I am a PhD student in Environmental Economics and Science at UC Santa Barbara and former director of the Conservation and Food & Agriculture programs at the Breakthrough Institute, where I am also a Senior Fellow. I was one of the authors of the Ecomodernist Manifesto. I’m interested in how technology can help decouple environmental impacts from economic growth. My current work focuses on strategies to address the twin challenges of meeting food demand and protecting biodiversity.
